This project was part of the REDD+/CCAD GIZ Regional Program which seeks to involve members of the eight countries of the Central America Integration System (SICA) to participate in the discussions, development and implementation of REDD+, it supports countries to respond to national and international safeguards commitments.

This project was aimed at supporting Belize, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama with the implementation of country-led safeguard approaches (CSA), including guiding the identification and assessments of legal, institutional and compliance frameworks (grievance redress mechanisms, information systems and non-compliance mechanisms), the set-up of safeguard information systems (SIS), and guiding the methodological aspects of the awareness raising and capacity building activities for governmental and nongovernmental actors (including e-learning courses, manuals, toolkits, and workshops).
